Becki Hine became the director of Song of Atlanta in 1993 and achieved the highly coveted title of Master Director in 1999. She has directed the chorus in over a dozen regional championships as well as multiple International competitions including three international top ten medals! She will once again lead the chorus into an international competition in Seattle, Washington in the fall of 2010 where the chorus will compete with Sweet Adeline International's top 35 choruses (out of 600 worldwide). She has also directed and produced 4 Song of Atlanta CD recordings, and is currently working on the 5th CD.
Becki is in high demand as a chorus and quartet coach and enjoys traveling around the world to share her infectious passion of performance and vocal excellence. As a Certified Showmanship Judge, she has judged Regional Sweet Adeline competitions in CA, NC, ID, MD, TX, WA, Canada, and England. In recent years, she has judged the European Barbershop Contest in Veldhoven, Netherlands, the Barbershopping in Germany Contest in Dortmund, Germany, the International Young Women in Harmony contest (Rising Star Quartet Competition), and the Harmony Classic International Chorus Competition involving small and midsized choruses. She chairs the judging panel for the Region 23 Young Women in Harmony quartet contest (Rising Stars of the South Competition) each year. Her love for the Young Women in Harmony program is something she is committed to and has served as a clinician and directed at festivals throughout the southeast as well as California.
On a personal level, Becki's family is deeply steeped in barbershop. Her husband is the esteemed director of the award winning Atlanta Vocal Project chorus, International championship baritone of the world renown FRED quartet, coveted coach and arranger, Clay Hine. Her daughter, Melody, is a front row member of Song of Atlanta Show chorus and son, Camden, performs with the Atlanta Vocal Project chorus.
