D.I.V.A. Day Festival

Dive Into Vocal Artistry

Saturday, April 20, 2024

Holy Innocents Episcopal Church | 805 Mt. Vernon Hwy. Atlanta, GA 30327

The D.I.V.A. Day Festival, hosted by Song of Atlanta Show Chorus, offers a meticulously designed one-day workshop aimed at introducing young treble vocalists in grades 9-12 (aged 14-19) to the intricacies of a cappella music. This immersive experience covers both the technical aspects and the expressive performance elements of the art form. The festival will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Participants will take part in rehearsals, enjoy lunch together, and then perform D.I.V.A. Day music selections during a Song of Atlanta performance at the conclusion of the event.

Meet the Clinician!

We are excited to have Song of Atlanta’s own Melody Hine to serve as your Festival clinician. Melody has been singing barbershop in various quartets and choruses since she was 14. She earned her music education degree from the University of Georgia, and after that spent a year working for Disney World and Universal Studios before beginning her teaching career at Duluth Middle School and then continuing to teach chorus at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Germantown, Maryland.

Melody is proud to be a member of Harmony Incorporated, Sweet Adelines International and the Barbershop Harmony Society. Her roles currently include certified BHS Music Judge and Musical Director of Parkside Melody, the upper voices ensemble of the Hershey Chapter of the BHS. She also sings baritone in the Song of Atlanta Show Chorus as well as the 2019 HI Harmony Queens, Hot Pursuit. Melody loves arranging and coaching groups of all levels, and she especially enjoys being a part of barbershop youth events.

Nancy loved sharing the joy of music with others and was an avid supporter of our Youth in Harmony festivals. Even before she was a member of SOA, she was the designated "Nurse-on Site" for all of our festivals. She was happy to give freely of her time and energy to assist me any way she could if it meant that more youth could share in the joy of singing.
