2024 Region 14 Contest & Convention

Below is a recap of our 2024 Region 14 Convention and Contest weekend. Whether we’re competing or going for evaluation, the experience is always exhilirating. We love to see all of our friends in Region 14 and use the weekend to bond as a chorus.

WOW! It is also so fun to be the outgoing Region 14 champions at Regional conventions. Instead of competing for a numeric score, we performed for “evaluation only” (the judges give us letter scores and lots of valuable comments regarding our performances).  We were thrilled to receive extremely positive feedback and will take the judges suggestions and apply them to our performances between now and our International competition in Kansas City on October 31, 2024!

We cheered extra hard for five of the quartets in the Quartet Competition who included SOA members, and three of those quartets earned medals—5th Place (and Novice Quartet winner) Something Casual, 4th place Singcerely, and 3rd place Yes Ma’am!  We would also like to mention that we had members competing in six more quartets in other regions during the same weekend! Shenanigans came in 2nd place in Region 11. In Region 4, Intrepid won 3rd place and Vivace won 2nd place.  We are so proud of all of our quartet singers!

At the end of the chorus competition, we had the opportunity to perform an Outgoing Champions Set which gave us a chance to publicly thank our leaders and coaches and highlight the 19 members who were on a competition stage with us for the first time. We also introduced a brand new arrangement by our own Melody Hine!

Aside from competition, we had a great time celebrating and spending quality time together outside of rehearsals. We even dressed up in our favorite 80’s oufits and danced the night away on Saturday night.
